Dutch-born Ghanaian youngster Ray Gyasi claims he has earned an extra impetus to push for more success after winning the AZ Alkmaar best young player of the season award.

The 18-year-old clinched the decorated award in a ceremony organised by the Dutch side last Monday following his inspirational performance in the season.

Gyasi, an attacking midfielder, bagged 12 goals and provided 18 assists including 3 for the first team.

With the feat achieved at the end of the season, the influential whizkid is all set to break into the Alkmaar firsst team squad Gertjan Verbeek drafting him into his plans for next season.

?I tried to push for more success for last season and hardwork in my club and I can see it paid off so I have to carry it into next season,? he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

?The season brought a lot of challenges because I?d to combine the U19s and the main team but I was able to excel and it shows me there is still more to do.

?As a young player coming up, you don?t rest until you reach your limit and I?m not prepared to rest. I?m working hard and gatecrashing the first team squad for next season.?

Raymond Gyasi is the younger brother of FC Twente winger Edwin Gyasi who has been linked with a move to Uefa Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund.
