The Black Stars captain says he will not be brought down, amid reports of his involvement a sexual affair.

Beleaguered Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has personally reacted to an alleged sex scandal which has dominated the headlines in the local media during the last 24 hours.

The Al Ain striker has been in the news after a university student in Ghana, Sarah Kwablah, 21, alleged that the player put her in a family way following their sex encounter in February.

Gyan?s lawyer Kissi Adjabeng has confirmed that the two parties had sex, but was quick to add that it was consensual. He doubts if the pregnancy is as a result of that encounter. Local daily Graphic Sports reports that Gyan has demanded for a paternity test.

Sarah?s lawyer on the other hand, says they have filed new charges in relation to rape and sodomy.

However, Gyan has publicly broken his silence after stating that the development would not affect his career.

In an interview with Accra-based Happy FM, the 29-year-old insists that his success story stems from his ability to overcome tough challenges.

?What has kept me going up to this time is my mental toughness. All through my career, I have always contended with obstacles whenever I?m trying to do anything but I never give up because I am mentally strong. I have not always had things running smoothly for me but I try to sail through,? he said.

?People may not know but my favourite genre of music is gospel. I listen to gospel songs every time and that is what inspires me and I sing them too,? Gyan added.

The player?s camp suspects Gyan is being blackmailed.
