Asamoah Gyan hails Al Ain fans

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has paid glowing tribute to Al Ain fans following his recent success.

The ex Sunderland striker was on Friday presented with the Golden Shoe award for scoring the most goals in entire gulf in the 2011-2012 season.

Gyan scored 21 goals in his debut season in the UAE top flight to win the prestigious award which is similar to the European Golden shoe award.

The 27-year-old has however thanked the Al Ain fans as being responsible for his success especially the support given during the difficult period of his mother?s death.

?I?m always thanking them (fans) because they were always supportive and I dedicate this to them because they supported me and this gave me self-confidence even in my hardest times,? he said.

?They stood by my side when I lost my mom. They supported me in my saddest moments.?

The Ghana captain remains on course to repeat his individual honours as he leads the goalscorer?s chart in the UAE with 24 goals.
