The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) Ghana Chapter, an organization which exists to promote better resolution of issues that women face generally, and also see to the concerns of women judges in particular, has presented a cheque of GH?2000 and some bale of used clothing to the Ark Foundation in Accra.

The donation was in view of supporting the foundation in its humanitarian work of providing counselling and shelter for victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Justice Barbara Ackah-Ayensu, Appeal Court Judge and IAWJ President, presenting the cheque to Angela Dwamena-Aboagye, Executive Director of Ark Foundation, said the donation was IAWJ?s response to a request the foundation made to the association.

She said, ?In the spirit of the season we thought that it was an appropriate time for us to pay them a visit and with our widows might support the extraordinary work that the foundation is doing for the vulnerable and the marginalized in our society.?

Ms Dwamena-Aboagye in turn expressed her appreciation to the association for extending their hand of support to the work of the foundation indicating, ?As far as we are concerned, every penny counts.?

She said the foundation which takes care of victims of sexual and domestic abuse had come under financial stress in recent times because of the dwindling donor support.

She was, therefore, extremely delighted that a Ghanaian association had come to their aid.
