The leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of amassing dangerous weapons to attack targeted leaders and members of the party during and after the March 28 and April 11 elections in the state.
Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, who raised the alarm during a press conference, in Benin, the state capital, appealed to the security agencies to ensure the safety of life and property of the members of the party and Edo people during the polls.
His accusation came as the state government said on Wednesday it had uncovered plans by the PDP to clone the voice of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, which would then be used to send out messages in support of the PDP presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
The Special Adviser (Media Affairs) to the Governor, Prince Kassim Afegbua, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, urged the people of the state and across the country to ignore such message as Oshiomhole was solidly behind the Presidential candidate of the APC, General Muhammadu Buhari and, indeed, all other candidates of the party.
The statement read: ?It has just come to the attention of government and the All Progressives Congress in Edo State that in a show of desperation, the PDP in the state has concluded plans to clone the voice of the Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, by telling people, especially members of the APC, to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan.?
