Anambra Government said it would not ban commercial motorcyclists, but would partner with them for the progress of the state.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Oseloka Obaze, disclosed the plan in Awka on Friday in an interview. He said the state government was aware of the social and economic roles of the commercial motorcyclists in the state , noting that instead of banning them, government would fully integrate them into its system for maximum benefit.
Obaze said government would encourage the motorcyclists to have a functional union, where all their data would be collected and registered properly for easy identification with uniforms and identity cards issued to them.
The SSG also said the state government would not toe the line of sister states to ban Okada operation because of its valued services to the people as such services were of paramount concern to the state government.
