Amaechi?s Centre-attraction

Praising where praise is not due is a sin, vis-?-vis. A man is reassured by praise or downsizing.

The case of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State is one that has sporadically gathered storms of the above expressions since October 25th?2007 when he came into office as governor. There are a lot of changes and lots that have not changed.??In dualization of roads, electrification, medical services, education scheme, and so on, things are changing.

On the other hand, in the eye of the opposition in the state the harangue that Rivers State is wearing the designation of a mega construction site is but a subterfuge, as against in many quarters where Amaechi is regarded as one governor who has created enviable scenes to his colleagues.??Notwithstanding, many Rivers masses would say that he has encouraged positive-political revolutions in different sectors of the state.

Every group in Rivers State has its yardstick of evaluation of the Amaechi-led government, which has made the scaling test not easy. The promise he made that he would not only consolidate on the records on ground, but would??go further and open up new grounds as he was elected the second time in office, has remained the attraction that many residents beg for results.

It is a known fact that the state is oil rich. And everybody has looked up that Amaechi provides leadership for the people of the state, but if Amaechi had gone by the mindset of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that humiliated him in 2007 elections, he would have been very un-predicting as the PDP.??The party had tilted the choice of Amaechi as its governorship candidate in the 2007 election.

It is essential that Amaechi has always talked that the people are his centre-attraction. He had always said that the people and the judiciary love him. Since he became governor, Rivers State has been a state of outstanding achievements and extraordinary criticisms.

In the areas of security, health, infrastructural development, rural development, education, employment, and among others it is obvious that Amaechi is trying but sustenance of the projects has been the bane, although he needs commendation for completing some of the inherited projects.

It is awful to say that he has tried in the projects he has embarked on but the fact is that he is trying; the quantum of projects grabbed by his administration need to be curtailed for their sustenance to be proficient.??There should be diversification of projects in the state which are mostly centred in the urban areas to the benefit of the rural areas, especially in the area of road construction. This attests to the scorecard he had received that in the area of rural development, his government was scored low.

However, the menace in the development of the rural areas could be seen as the reason why some state governors do not want to entrust money in the hands of Local Government Areas bosses, because they are as good as nothing in the development of the rural areas they were supposed to care for. Amaechi should understand that Rivers State is not yet developed according to the position of his promise because those in the rural areas are still struggling for pliable roads and transportation. Even though that he is tying in the area of power supply, some areas are yet to see the light of the day.

Uncompleted projects should not be littered in most parts of the state. Any project started should be completed and the idea of poor quality jobs as the case may be should be eschewed. It is only pliable roads that would promote trade and investment in the state in the eyes of Amaechi?s agricultural adventure. It is not only stable power supply in an area that attracts development, pliable roads is major.

Like he has been directing, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) should do its part of the development in the state and should stop COMMISSIONING projects majorly in the media.

This is very important. Rivers State really needs extensive road construction network. Promises bias should stop being caught in the projects that this government had embarked on.??Let the state experience half of the things people have been reading in the news. The calculation of Amaechi on how to develop Rivers State is not wrong, but the rating of some of the outcome is very poor. Amaechi is supposed to be the top most performers. The workforce should be well motivated for unequivocal stable praise of the Amaechi-led government.
