Akwa Ibom students advise Udom Emmanuel to stop campaigning

A converge of Akwa Ibom students from all higher institutions in Akwa Ibom state have unanimously thrown their weight behind the PDP Gubernatorial candidate – Udom Emmanuel, a declaration made at a solidarity rally held at Ibom Plaza, today, Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
wpid-Udom-Emmanuel.jpgThe statement was made by Chairman of Akwa Ibom state Joint Campus Committee- Comrade Aquila Otobong Akpan, asking Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to relax and make plans for the celebration of his victory at the polls come Saturday, 11 April 2015. In her words,’ we as student in our youth happen to be stronger, and we had taken it upon ourselves as a repsonsibilty to tour all campuses and local government areas on your behalf, we can assure you that enough ward to ward and door to door campaign has been done’, she affirmed.

Student leaders from various higher institutions of learning in the state also took their turns to deliver goodwill messages, eulogizing Mr Udom Emmanuel. Speaking on behalf of 30,000 students of the University of Uyo, the SUG President Comrade Ndiana Ekong made a case for the convener – Comrade Aquila Otobong Akpan, reminding the campaign team of Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s promise to appoint her Personal Assistant on Student Affairs.

In response, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga- the Director General of the Udom/Moses Divine Mandate Campaign Committee, cautioned the students on selling their future by voting for greedy politicians, he however advised that the students in their respective units should endeavor to ‘meet the election with anger and not violence’.

Mr Udom Emmanuel was represented at the rally by his Deputy Governor Designate Mr. Moses Ekpo, who assured the students of the incoming administration’s continuous committment towards improving standard of education, and subsequently establish industries which will create jobs for the students on graduation. In his words, he said ‘my principal Udom Emmanuel has a covenant with Akwa Ibom students to secure their future’. Other dignitries present included Senator Anietie Okon and Mr Larry Esin- former Governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom state.

Student leaders also present to declare support included Comrade Idongesit Micah of Akwa Ibom Female Students Association, Senior Comrade Mfon Umoh, Senior Comrade Uduak NseAbasi, Comrade Ofong Ekpe of Students G-31, UniUyo Speaker of Parliament- Omodot Nyong, Comrade Ndiana Robinson representing students of the College of Education Afaha Nsit, and Comrade UtomObong Etukudoh of School of Nursing- Anua, among others.
