wpid-Nana-Addo-Dankwa-Akufo-Addo.jpgThe New Patriotic Party’s special delegate congress to prune the number of qualified Aspirants from seven to five on?31st August, 2014?is going to be very revealing. Without looking through a crystal ball nor possessing ?psychic prowess nor conducted a scientific research, ?on my humble mind is predicting an overwhelming 90 % of the delegates vote in favour of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo – Addo.

Although there are six other contestants vying for the flagbearership position of the party, majority of the party membership across the country have shown that the the best way to win the 2016 election is to return the man whose conduct in the party and Ghana is clear, visionary, committed, ready, willing, capable and with an urgency of purpose to build the country for the prosperity of all.

The adage “Coming events cast their shadows before”, proofs that every significant event is often preceded by signs that they are about to happen. (From Thomas Campbell’s poem, “Lochiel’s Warning.”).

If you pay attention to the news, and the happenings around, ?you generally can tell when something momentous is about to happen. To wit – Coming events cast their shadows before.

The show of support given to Nana Akufo – Addo has become the norm across the country. As he takes his campaign to solicit the mandate of the delegates, almost everyone of the delegates have publicly in the full glare of the cameras declared their respective support for the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo.

Many of our parliamentarians, regional and constituency ?executives and others have indicated that the cry of their constituents is for the flagbearership of Akufo – Addo. Therefore, the declarations and support are in response to the wishes of the membership of the party and majority of the Ghanaian voter.

While these massive support for Akufo – Addo continue across the country, the external branches are actually voting to inform their representatives of their preference for Nana Akufo – Addo. Results from the UK branches of the party is a clear testimony to the other contestants vying for the flagbearership position of the party that the public display of support and endorsements would ?translate into actual votes.

As the party readies itself for the special voting, some skirmishes likely to mar the beauty of democracy, peace and unity of purpose in the party have been recorded. Fortunately all well meaning members of the party have come out to conderm.

The party’s National Council of Elders have met and issued a statement calling for calm. We appreciate the quick response to the crisis by President Kuffour, Nana Akufo – Addo, Mr . Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and all other members of the party as we go through this phase of the party’s process towards the election of the flagbearer.

Let’s our aspirations be in tandem with the advancement of the party which we have all put our efforts, resources and time to develop. Ghanaians are looking up to us to help salvage the economic mess, massive corruption, social decadence and leadership paralysis which is engulfing the President John Dramani Mahama’s NDC government.

The flip side of the adage stated above is that unless we agree to disagree on issues of principle with respect, decorum and circumspection, ?the party risk jeopardising an open opportunity to win the 2016 election and to save the socio economic development of Ghana from further abuse post 2016 election.

As members of the party, we should continously mend our differences. Like a boat on the sea, we float together or sink together. The wind may blow in different directions, the turbulence may be daunting, but the skills of the sailors should be able to get us safely to our destination, winning the 2016 elections.

Roy E. Disney, a partner and co-founder of Walts Disney said “When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier,”

Nana Akufo – Addo’s leadership has been accepted and supported by many in the NPP and beyond because of the clarity of his values. An unrepentant believer in the liberal democratic values of the party, he has stayed on and work so tirelessly over the years.

He has been steadfast in enduring every mud thrown at him from within and without. He has also sacrificed and continue to sacrifice for the development of the party. Not once has he ever turned his back to the call to duty at any level of the party to serve and to contribute, justified or not.

He has been consistent with a clear vision to serve his country by bringing on board his high sense of urgency, values and respect for the fundamental human rights of every member of the society.

The encouragement and public display of support for the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo is therefore clear, the decision to vote for him at the?31st August 2014??delegates congress is even more clearer.

A 90% victory awaits the man of peace and vision to lead the NPP in the 2016 elections. Let’s all swim with the tides and join the winning team.

Each of the other aspirants, especially Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten have also worked creditably to the development of the party and fit the bill to lead the NPP as a flagbearer, however? to win the 2016 elections, Akufo – Addo is our best chance.
