Airtel Ghana donates to health service

Airtel Ghana, one of the biggest mobile telecommunication operators in the country has donated 132 mobile phones to the Ghana Health Service in the Upper East Region.

The phones are meant to help address challenges with emergency communication by health workers in rural areas.
Presenting the items, Airtel Zonal Business Manager for Northern Sector, Mr Kwame Osafo-Amoah said the company does not only concern itself with the development of products to meet the communication needs of its clients but it also has the welfare of the people at heart.

The Acting Upper East Regional Director of Health Service Mr Peter Boaten who received the items thanked Airtel Ghana for the kind gesture and promised that the phones will be given to community health nurses in rural areas in the region to aid communication for emergency referral. Mr Peter Boate was optimistic the phones will help to improve access and quality health care delivery in the region and accelerate the attainment of the health MDGs.
