ngmayem festivalThe Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly has decided to organize a weeklong festival to bring the citizens together to discuss how to live their dreams.

This is part of its efforts to speed up the socio-economic progress of the area.

Mr. Frank Oppong, Secretary to the Organizing Committee, said it would create the platform for all the people ?to find space to pay their dues to the district?.
It has been dubbed ?Efie ne fie? (there cannot be any better place than the home) and it is a collaboration among the assembly, chiefs and the religious bodies.
He said the event, which would be held from November 30-December 7, would also be used to honour some individuals for outstanding contribution to its development.
Mr. Oppong told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it would additionally provide the opportunity to showcase the economic potentials of the district as well as its rich culture.
Reporters of the nation?s wire service had gone there under STAR-Ghana?s sponsored media auditing and tracking of development projects, an initiative launched to put the spotlight on how government?s resources were helping to transform the lives of the people, particularly those in rural communities.
The goal is to aid transparency, promote accountability and good local governance.
Afigya-Kwabre was created six years ago and has been struggling with office and residential accommodation because it received no ceded money at birth to construct the basic infrastructure.
Mr. Oppong said there could not be any doubt that with unity of purpose they could make things happen.
