It is amazing how you have failed ? even in your logic. Is Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah broke, for instance, or not? On that alone, you could not decide where to pitch your tattered intellectual tent. You said of Dr. Ubah ?who is throwing billions into the race in the hope it is for the highest bidder?, yet earlier on, you had talked of him as a debtor.
Before you had skipped onto finance, you had perched on his level of education. Fact is that Dr. Ubah has met the qualification demanded by the National Constitution for the post he is contesting.
Had you not remained blind to the world, you would have known that Mr. George Weah the footballer contested an election to be President of Liberia ? and many believe that he won that election but was rigged out. If you are educated enough, you must have heard about three gentlemen who changed the world for the better in the last thirty years including the means we are using to communicate now. For the benefit of the doubt , let me name them for you. They are; Bill Gates of Microsoft, Steve Jobs of Apple and Mack Zuckerberg of face book. Ifeanyi Ubah is in the mould of these men whose contributions changed the world for better. Need I tell you their level of paper qualification before they achieved the great feats?
One may have a right to be fixated on paper qualification and nothing else. But if education is to prepare us for the race of life and to help us compete for resources and to be useful to the society then Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is doing okay, thank you. On that score, he even appears to be doing much, much better that whoever Law Mefor is? It is most likely that Ubah has more Nigerians in his employment at any given minute than Law Mefor may have in a life-time ? that is if he is not a perpetual employee. Ubah pays more tax to the Nigerian economy than Law Mefor could ever imagine.
How useful to Nigeria is Law Mefor? Dr. Ubah has helped to keep Nigeria supplied with petrol and kerosene ? controlling some 40% of the stuffs distribution. If he or his company falters, petrol scarcity and petrol queues are back to Nigeria. But Law Mefor may live and die like an ant in a desert ? yet he is here making noise about ?his level of education?. His philanthropy is legendary. How much has Law Mefor done on that sector? Put starkly, without Ubah, hundreds of Nigerians on his Foundation?s scholarship will have no future? How many people are on Law Mefor’s scholarship award list? Phew!
Ubah has presented himself to the Anambra electorate. He, a democrat will abide by their verdict. Governance in Anambra has been so basterdised that he wants to fix it. He has not shied away from debates with those who claim to have all sorts of paper qualifications ? and he has repeatedly beaten them. APGA?s Mr. Willie Obiano, during one debate, could not name three agricultural products from Anambra state. He was even caught cheating when he was reading from a prepared text against the rules and regulation of the organizers. ?Or what could one say of Senator Ngige who said that with N250 million meant for constituency projects, he could only build ?VIP Toilets??
Ubah did not become a billionaire by fluke but ?hard work and doing things in a better way. In his campaigns, he has said he is in the Onitsha-Sea-Port crowd. Instead, he wants to help build a special deep sea port in the Eastern section of the South-South and from there truck the containers to Obah ? where there will be an inland port. Reason being that Onitsha Sea Port is not economically viable to sustain the level of business that will stand Anambra out.
He also wants to pipe in natural gas from Delta state and use same at two points in Anambra state to power giant turbines to provide electricity ?and unleash the entrepreneurial spirit in Anambra state by making power outages a thing of the past. None of the other contestants in the election has such refreshingly different ideas.
And you, you did not see other things such as the return of godfatherism which is knocking at the door with Gov. Obi and Willie Obiano or PDP?s Tony Nwoye and the team of Arthur Eze, Emeka Offor and ?Ibeto, talk less of Ngige who is a known beneficiary of god fatherism in the past in bringing a more dangerous one Tinubu . Ubah is a truly independent man; with God Almighty alone as his Godfather.
Ubah keeps improving himself ? that is why he has attended a leadership programme at Harvard University ? and he is not making any noise about it. But if you have elected to keep this discussion on the level of a joke, about tenses mix up that comes from your imagination, you have a right to exist where you choose; Ubah is moving on and up.
If only you could stick out your head from the sand where it is stuck, you would notice that ?but what is the use? Every vote will count, or should count ? and you do not cast all of them if you even cast at all.
