American Company Defrauded Of $1m In Gold Scam

?Three people have been arrested for defrauding an American company of $1 million.

wpid-illegal-gold-mines-expected-to-flourish.jpgThe three, including a man who claimed to be a retired Lance Corporal of the Ghana Police Service, committed the crime under the pretext of supplying the company with gold.?They are Amankwa Osei Tutu, 27; Jeffery Kofi Boakye, 27; and Seth Dzamesi, 34 (self-styled retired Lance Corporal), all businessmen.

Three other accomplices are on the run. They are Nana Mensah, John Amoah and Mr. Asante, who is their shipping agent.?However, the suspected criminals used other names for their fraudulent activities to hide their identity.

Amankwa Osei Tutu, who is the leader of the group, is also known as Wilberforce Nimako. Jeffery Kofi Boakye also uses George Yeboah, Kwabena Mintah while Seth Dzamesi uses Seth Tekper or John Boadu.

According to the Adentan District Commander, DSP Stephen Ahiatafu, the victim lodged a complaint to his outfit on October 19 that the suspected three people he was doing business with had duped him.?The complainant said that he saw an advertisement online about gold business in Ghana and respond to it and a deal was brokered

The three suspects sent the complainant gold sample, which when tested was genuine.

This led to the complainant, who was resident in Florida, USA, ordering 100 kilograms of gold, and transferred of $183,000 into an account belonging to Amankwa.

Even though not a kilogram of gold was delivered, the complainant again transferred another $500,000 into the same accounts.

Other transfers were made, making the total transfers $1 million. After all these payments, the suspects did not deliver an ounce of gold to the complainants company. This compelled him to down to Ghana to find out what was happening.

On his arrival in Ghana, the complainant met with Amankwa Osei Tutu and Seth Dzamesi, who staged a fight in his presence.

The fight resulted in Dzamesi stating that the he laid an embargo on the ship carrying the gold in Amsterdam.

The complainant realized then that the suspects had duped him and lodged a complaint with the Adentan Police.

On October 24, the complainant intentionally introduced another party to the suspects that they also wanted some gold bars.

At the said meeting the suspects were going to claim $2.4 million for 75 kilograms of gold.

The police laid ambush and arrested them. The suspects are being processed for court.

DSP Ahiatafu cautioned the public not to deal with individuals when they went to buy gold.
