Accra Great Olympics Pays Courtesy Call On Ga Mantse

IMG_1383 (1280x853) The Executive Management Board of the Accra Great Olympics Football Club, led by Eric Nii Afotey Odai, its Board Chairman, today, paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II. The call was in honour of an invitation extended to them by the Ga Mantse and the Gbese Mantse Nii Ayi Bonte II after the team had qualified for the middle league competition after returning from relegation. The Ga Mantse, Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II, who has now been made the Patron of the Club, said he is aware of the fact that the team is doing well and that they are left with three matches to qualify to the Premier league division. According to him it behooves on the team members to improve upon their performance. Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II further advised the players and management of the team to be guided by the tenets of the game as they embark on their trip to Kumasi for the Middle league championship, calling on them to ensure that the trophy is brought back to Accra. He said, the Great Olympics team belongs to the people of Ga Mashie and that they will do all they can to uplift the good image of the team. He further urged them to be respectful to their leaders, coach and gain all the necessary experience to enable them defeat any team that would come their way, admonishing them to desist from insults and unguarded language as a team to enable the coach offer his best. ?You should be mindful of the fact that Accra Great Olympics will be 60 years this year, and rather at a retirement age will redeem itself with a good beginning of rebirth,? he said. He called on benevolent organizations to come to their aide in all manner of support. He expressed gratitude to former players and predecessors like Cecil Jones Attuquoifio, Adjei Aku and Isaac Acquaye who excelled in their performance and duties during their roles as players of the Club. The Ga Mantse poured libation seeking for God?s mercies and blessings to guide the team to take them to Kumasi and bring them back safely ?emerging victorious as they bring the trophy home. On his part, the Gbese Mantse and Adonten of the Ga State, Nii Ayi Bonte II thanked God for their coming in into the league again and promised that the whole Ga State made up of all the chiefs and the people of Ga Mashie will rally support behind the team to ensure victory. Speaking in his capacity as the Adonten of the Ga State, he assured them of his personal support and executive leadership skills in helping to promote and uplift the image of Accra Great Olympics, a track record he has left behind with Accra Hearts of Oak. He believes that Olympics will play the Ga Mantse Trophy which has been out from the system for quite a long time. According to the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Accra Great Olympics,? Eric Nii Afotey the team is ready to play its next competition to usher them into the premier league table will be played in Kumasi. ?We were out from relegation from the 1st division for the last season.? Eric Nii Afotey assured the chiefs of their commitment to the game and that they will do all they can to ensure their victory in Kumasi and appealed to the chiefs of Ga State to give them a rousing welcome back home when they arrive at the Kotoka International Airport. The Coach Samuel Quaye noted that the team is prepared to meet any team after their long stay out of the premier league, believing that with the commitment and dedicated players, they would excel to making Olympics a successful team. ?We seek for your support and blessings from God so we can win a middle league in Kumasi and bring the trophy back to Accra,? he said. Also, Alhaji Kortey a member of the team, appealed to Nii Ga and Nii Gbese to give them the necessary support to enable them achieve greater heights in football as the flag of other successful teams like Accra Hearts of Oak have always excel and maintained their positions in the premier league division. ?We believe that the success of these two teams, Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics will surely unite the chiefs and people of Ga Mashie as it had been in the past,? he said. Captain George Brako thanked the Chiefs for their encouraging words and support and assured them of an excellent team work with the promise of returning the trophy after the match in Kumasi to catapult their position in the premier league division. Nii Akwashong of Gbese, a former Great Olympics player of 1957 recalled his dynamic performance as a player in a jersey of Accra Great Olympics and knelt down in prayers on behalf of the Ga State and appealed to the players to give out their best which he believes as a team can easily be done to lift the image of the Ga State. Mr. Yacob Adzadey, a businessman pledged a first donation of GH?5000,00 to support the players on their trip to Kumasi for the Middle league championship.
