The people of Abenase in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality have appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene to resolve a long-standing chieftaincy dispute in the town.

The community has been without a substantive chief for more than 34 years and they say they have had ?enough of that?.
Mr. Edward Mensah, the Chairman of the Unit Committee, told a press conference, called by opinion leaders and family heads, that the people were simply sick and tired of the dispute.
He said the absence of a chief was affecting the development of the town and so the situation could not be allowed to persist.
Some people, he said, were taking advantage of that to sell and encroach on lands reserved under the town?s planning scheme thus making it difficult for the assembly to execute development projects in the community.
He said there could be no doubt that the installation of a chief would help to restore some level of discipline and order.
The matter, for the past eight years, had been before the Kumasi Traditional Council, presided over by the Asantehene, and their expectation was that the King would make a final pronouncement to put it to rest, he said.
?We are of the strong conviction that Otumfuo Osei Tutu would fast track the resolution of the case in order to restore calm in the town,? he said.
He said whoever would be installed the chief of Abenase would have the full support and cooperation of the people.
Mr Mensah, however, hinted that any further delay could throw the town into turmoil.
