Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris turned down an opportunity to pursue education to the highest level by choosing a risky decision to play football instead.

The 24-year-old was presented with two options ? to go to school or play football ? when he turned 16 at the Right to Dream Academy.

Waris however opted to play football despite being good in academics ? a decision that has subsequently proved to be prudent following his exploits at club and national team level.

?I sat Waris down and asked him whether he wanted to go to school or play football,? Right to Dream Academy Chief Executive Tom Vernon told GHANAsoccernet.com.

?This was when he turned 16 and he told me he wanted to play football.?

Waris could have earned one of the numerous scorlarships offered by the Right to Dream Academy for their inmates to study abroad.

The Ghanaian academy despite producing several football talents have a chunk of their graduates now studying in top universities and colleges in the US and in Europe.
