A 54-YEAR-OLD man is in the grip of the Ashaiman Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service for stealing a 6-year-old girl at Zongo-Laka, a suburb of the town, in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspect, Joshua Kwame Ametepe, a trader and resident of Osuwem in the Eastern Region, was said to have lured the victim to his home for reason best known to him until he was arrested.

Joshua is said to have mastered in stealing children and have been on police wanted list for some time now before he was arrested at Kpong where he was found with the child whose age has been mentioned above.

According to information gathered by DAILY GUIDE, on February 17, 2014 at about 3:30 pm, the suspect, who usually trades at Ashaiman, came for his usual business when he was said to have seen the victim who had absented herself from school and playing with her siblings.

Kwame Ametepe, who had his plans already set, allegedly sat under a tree and invited the victim.

He purportedly lured the victim to the Ashaiman main lorry park where he reportedly boarded a vehicle bound for Kpong in the Eastern Region, but alighted at Asutsuare junction, where he boarded another vehicle to Osuwem near Akuse.

On reaching his home with the victim, this paper gathered that he was confronted by his landlord as to where he was bringing the child from, but he told the landlord that the child was his brother?s daughter who had come to spend some holidays with him.

Dissatisfied with the answer given by Kwame Ametepe, the landlord reportedly hinted some members of the community and was subsequently arrested in the evening by the area Unit Committee, and sent to the Akuse Police Station.

He was later transferred to the DOVVSU in Ashaiman where he stole the child, and was said to have admitted stealing the child. The police are still investigating the matter for the suspect to be processed before court.
