Kwasi Oppong AbabioHon. Kwasi Oppong Ababio, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani, said the completion of the 3.80Km road project from Penkwase, to Military Barracks in Sunyani will go a long way to improve the living conditions of the people in the project area and beyond.

The project was given to Messrs Trade Vision Limited for a ten year duration period.

Hon. Ababio said the contractor would require the support of all stakeholders, particularly those who share the road reservations with the Road Agencies would be relocating them so as to make way for the road construction.

Hon. Ababio again said the Municipal Assembly also requires of people who have structures in the reservation to start removing these structures to ensure smooth implementation of the project. The Assembly is giving those occupying the reservation two weeks from today to remove all structures in the reservation in order for the contractor to begin work.

He said, development always comes with some inconveniences. “This project is not likely to be any different. Residents along the road corridor would surely face some degree of inconveniences accesses are going to be blocked, water supply sources are going to be disconnected and electricity supplies might be interrupted sometimes due to the road contraction work. It is our hope that when such problems arise, the agencies responsible will act promptly to restore the situation to normalcy when notified.”

Hon Ababio said he wanted to use this opportunity to appeal to those living on the road corridor that whenever they are faced with problems resulting from the road construction work they should not go attacking the contractor’s workmen on site.

Mr. Edward Nyonator, Sunyani Municipal Roads Engineer said Raw materials must be conveyed from the place of production to the place of manufacture or usage, and all goods must been moved from the factory to the consumer.

He said in Ghana, road transportation is the main mode by which the travel needs of the populace are accomplished. They are gathered here this morning to perform the sod cutting ceremony for work to commence on the Rehabilitation of a section of the Chiraa Road.

Mr. Nyonator expressed satisfaction about the Roads Engineer on the occasion of the commencement durbar for this project because this project happens to be the biggest in the seven (7) years history of the Department of Urban Roads in the Sunyani Municipality.
