$35,000 Computer lab for Awutu Mankessim

A 35,000 -dollar Computer laboratory with a library attached for cluster of schools at Awutu Mankessim has been inaugurated at Mankessim, near Awutu Bawjaise, in the Central Region.computer
It was constructed by the Praxis Africa, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in United States.
Addressing the chiefs and people, Dr Delore Zimmeman, Director of the NGO said the computer centre is to assist students to become computer literate.
He said arrangements have been completed with Vodafone, a communication company to hook the centre onto the Internet.
Dr Zimmeman who has been installed the Development Chief at Awutu Mankessim with the stool name Nai Awuah Kotoko I, appealed to adults in the area to take advantage of the information, communication and technology to become computer literate.
He said the facility was brought to Awutu Mankessim through the instrumentality of Mr Tonny Mensah, Project Coordinator of Praxis Africa in Ghana.
Dr Zimmeman said the NGO has drawn up an exchange programme on computer studies with the local students and their counterpart in Maryland, US.
He said the NGO has also donated 3,000 assorted books to stock the library.
Nai Kwao Otuo, Ankobeahene of Awutu Traditional Area and chief of Awutu Mankessim, urged chiefs to use their positions as community leaders to promote unity and development.
Nai Klabi Klottey, Omankrado of Awutu Traditional Area who chaired the function, expressed appreciation to the NGO and Nai Kwao Otuo for their sense of direction to establish the ICT centre.
He cautioned the students not to abuse the use of the internet facility to the detriment of their studies.
