Government has secured a $35 million from the Indian government to revamp the Komenda Sugar factory which collapsed a number of years ago.

The NDC Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA), Dr. J S Annan disclosed this at the climax of this year?s Nyeyi Afahye in Komenda, Elmina in the Central region.

Dr Annan cited the securing of the loan as further evidence of his achievements as MP, and challenged opponents from the NPP, CPP and other parties to show in concrete terms what they have to offer.

The NDC MP, who is also the Deputy Minister for Trade, is facing growing calls by some of his party members to step down and allow Dr Ato Quarshie, a former MP, to stand on the NDC ticket in the December poll. Barring this, there are also calls for Dr Quarshie to stand as an independent candidate.
